The El Dorado Nature Reserve is a protected area located in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, in the department of Magdalena, Colombia. It was created in 2005 by the ProAves Foundation in order to conserve and restore the habitat of the Santa Marta parakeet, an endemic and threatened species. The reserve covers more than 1,300 hectares of mountain forests and other natural ecosystems that are home to a great diversity of flora and fauna, especially birds. The reserve offers accommodation, food, guidance and hiking services for visitors who want to enjoy nature and observe the unique species of the region.
